I am a kind, competent and caring teacher dedicated to helping you build confidence and spark creativity, playing music you LOVE.

Hi, I'm Julie Carr, owner and solo teacher at Carr Keys. I primarily teach piano, voice, and woodwinds, but I also teach beginning students on strings and brass as well. I'm one of those crazy music people who loves learning all kinds of instruments. I started when I was young. My mother had to cut me off at "only 3 instruments at a time."  So I took turns studying piano, voice, clarinet, cello and tuba privately, and actively participated in Band, Choir and Musical Theater all of my life.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Northwestern. I taught choir, band and classroom music in schools for 10 years and have been teaching private lessons for 30 years.

I chose the sunflower for the Carr Keys logo because it symbolizes joy and growth, and staying positive and focused. And this is what I truly desire for my students and myself on our beautiful, musical journey.

I love variety and appreciate the unique giftedness of every student. My specialty is utilizing different teaching techniques for each student as I take time to get to know each one as an individual, and focus on what works best for them.

In addition to teaching, I am the Music Director at Chain of Lakes Church in Blaine, MN and love to play and sing for the glory of God, and guide and help others to do the same. I also have a passion for animals - especially dogs - and volunteered as a dog walker at the Animal Humane Society in Coon Rapids.
